Q: Can I apply for a scholarship if I am studying in the US?
A: Preference is given to applicants studying in Italy and Europe, although the Board of Directors will review each application on a case-by-case basis depending on the circumstances.

Q: Can I apply for a scholarship if I am enrolled in graduate school or in a certification?
A: Mott scholarships are available to those students enrolled in college or graduate school. Mott applications for certifications will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis depending on the circumstances.

Q: Have you received my application?

Q: Can I submit my application in Italian?
A: All applications must be submitted in English.

Q: What supporting documents are required?
You must send original documents verifying (1) enrollment in a University, (2) your high school/college grades or scores and (3) your family income (ISEE) to the Foundation Address on this page.

Q: Have you received my supporting documents?
A: No confirmation emails will be sent regarding receipt of supporting documents. Please make sure you send your supporting documents to the address provided on this page. The deadline is provided on the same page. Please send your original documents as soon as you have submitted your application to ensure receipt by the deadline. Q: Did I receive a scholarship or not?
A: You will receive an email between May 15 and June 15 notifying you that you have been selected to receive a scholarship. If you were not selected for a scholarship, you will receive an email between May 15 and June 15 notifying you that you were not selected, and encouraging you to apply for a scholarship the following year.

    Q: Why didn't I receive a scholarship?
A: Scholarships are awarded at the sole discretion of the Board of Directors. Due to the limited number of scholarships awarded each year, not all applicants will receive a scholarship. We encourage you to apply for a scholarship the following year.

Q: How many Mott scholarships can I receive?
A: Each awardee is only eligible for four (4) Mott scholarships. After receiving four (4) Mott scholarships, applicants will not be eligible to receive additional scholarships.

Q: When will I receive my scholarship?
A: An email notifying you of a scholarship will either (1) have information regarding your required attendance at an Award Ceremony in Calabria or (2) indicate that you will receive a scholarship packet by mail. A check addressed to you will be included in the packet. It can take approximately a month to a month and a half before you receive your scholarship packet by mail when there is no Award Ceremony in Calabria.

Q: If I am unable to attend the Award Ceremony in Calabria, can my parent(s) attend the Award Ceremony and accept my Award?
A: The Foundation prefers you attend the Award Ceremony in person, but if you are unable to attend due to class schedules or conflicts, your parent(s) can accept your award at the Award Ceremony. In order to receive the award on your behalf, your parent(s) must supply a copy of your identification (driver’s license, passport).

Q: If I cannot attend the Award Ceremony due to class schedules or conflicts (on the years when the Board is in Calabria), how do I receive my award?
A: If you are unable to attend the Award Ceremony due to class schedules or conflicts (on the years when the Board is in Calabria), an award packet will be sent to the primary address listed on your application.

Q: If I have moved since submitting my application, how do I receive my award?
A: Please notify the Foundation at info@mottscholarship.org with your new address if you have moved since submitting your application.

Q: How long after the date on the check can it be cashed?
A: All checks must be cashed no later than six (6) months of the date on the check. Checks cashed after that time, may not be honored by the Mott Foundation's bank in the US.

Q: Can I receive my scholarship by bank wire?
A: The Foundation will send a check made out to the scholarship awardee. The Mott Foundation prefers not to wire funds for scholarships.

Q: I did not receive my scholarship packet within a month to month and a half. Where is it?
